y’know those late 80’s cyberpunk novels (or movies, like Tron or Lawnmower Man kind of) that claimed if we had a big enough computer it would develop consciousness?
Check out this page and scroll down to the bottom. Someone put a bunch of common search terms together and linked them all to other pages on the site to get google to rank the page high for those search terms (and the top of the page is just a link to the website they want you to visit so they can get paid as advertisers). But google doesn’t want you to do that so it filters out pages that are just collections of common search terms. But this one intersperses the terms with clips from random stories. Mind-bending reading, and I’ve no doubt it’s all computer-generated (and you can build your own adventure by clicking the links to get to similar generated pages).
I found one of the stories that that page uses. I bet they’re all from the free online library. Funny that they didn’t parse the stories right – the linebreaks are gone and they’re not replaced with spaces so you get words running together.
Even if google ends up taking these pages out of its index, some kid is probly making thousands of dollars on the clickthroughs. I wish I’d thoughta that.
So I didn’t find “unferth” but I got an interesting distraction.
