Portland Rocks, part III
Sometimes it’s hard to believe I’m living in a real city with real adults.
Check out this page in the Portland Mercury (a local newspaper). Scroll down to “Urban Golf.” Unfortunately I found out about it too late to go, but it is unbelievably cool that people in a city do that stuff and even publish it in a newspaper. I thought you could only get away with that on campus!
Scroll down further on that page and you’ll discover that I’m going to see MURS tonight. There is hope for good hip hop even in the culturally monolithic northwest.
And tomorrow night is an artwalk a block from my house (Last Thursday). Hooray for not having to drive home.
Friday I’ve scheduled a hike up some mountain or other. So the living part of “living and working in Portland” is going well. I still haven’t earned any money since I got here, but I have a couple leads. Once at least one of those gets going, I can consider my semester off a success all around :-)
